Am contemplating buying a pair of these as they are available in LBS for £200 (2009 version).

Anybody own them and will I get bang for my buck (I'm only a club-running weekend warrior). The alternative is the less expensive 5.5 which also look and feel nice.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

    I have 2 pairs.

Check eBay or gbcycles.co.uk as you might find them cheaper (depending on size/colour)

    Highly recommended.

They definitely rock. The carbon soles and tight fitting heel cups make them feel much faster than plastic soled Sidis. Whether there is any actual performance improvement is open to debate but they certainly feel like they are.

+1 good shoes, well made, v comfy and stiff, but check sizing with a try on, pretty narrow.

I actually took off the heel restraint thing on mine to give very slightly more comfortable fit as i was between sizes and went for the smaller. its only a bit of plastic, and they tighten pretty much the same without it.

I paid less than £150 at je james for 08's (they are same as 09's) see if they still have them, good value at that but wouldnt pay 200+ for them.

Absolutely fabulouious. A the the time I was a 42 in every thing, shimano, specialiZed, nike, adidas and heard that Sidi's come up small so I ordered a 42 and a 43. The 42's were tight at the front but I stuck with them and they have loosened up and fit perfectly after a few weeks.

Wiggle had them before Christmas at £150 on their 20 days countdown and also did a £15 off voucher. It'd wrench me to pay £200 :P

Get the 5.5's, unless you are like me and will regret not spending' a little more' on that something better.

Sorry if this constitute's thread jacking but can anyone tell me what £200+ for the Sidi's will do that my cheapo but perfectly comfortable older Look shoes are not (?) doing for me now? (Other than look mega by comparison!).

The theory behind the full carbon soles is that they prevent 'hot spots' on the soles of your feet when the weather is very hot or you are on long 3-5 hours rides. I have a pair of Look Ergo2 and will personally put this to the test when I wear them this summer.
My son brought a pair last year and says he really notices the difference when he swops back to his cheaper Sidi Energys and firmly belives the Ergo2 shoes are the best he's had in over 20 years cycling and he has worn top end Look, Time and Carnac carbon shoes for leisure and racing in the past.

Absolutely nothing but look at the pics in the Cycling mags.Gleaming white shoes by Spesh/Northwave/Sidi are everywhere. Your shoes are prob. fine but imagine turning up on your best bike, chain and cassette shining and then oh dear, those shoes dahling!

My red vernice ergo 2s definitely make me go faster because I have to justify them to avoid looking like a total ponce..

They are good enough for 'Snowstorm' Tom Boonen so no justification necessary

    Thanks gents.

I cracked and picked up a pair Friday and test drove on Sat for about 80km. Bloody marvellous. Bought them in store as I not really a fan of using a shop to browse and then screwing them by buying it cheaper elsewhere. I also bought em in black as I'm old skool.

I know I sound like a 5 year old boy with a new pair of runners, but I'll swear the lack of flex when climbing made go uphill faster. Big thumbs up so far.

Good choice, though you would have been at least 25% faster again in white ones. And another 10% in any vernice colourway.
