Advice on my FIRST road bike!!!

Ok guys I am new to the road scene and need some advice on which bike is the best buy. I have 3 choices Giant Defy 2, Gary Fisher Rail Super, and the Trek 1.5. I have ridden the Trek and Giant bikes and really enjoyed both. Our Fisher dealer is very small and doesn't keep a large invitory so test riding the Rail is not an option. I have done some research and it seems to me that the Giant has the better components and is a better buy. Does anyone have any helpful advice?
Thanks,
Caleb

Look much of a muchness to me, get the one you like the best(out of the 2 you've tested probably though)winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

I brought the Giant Defy 2 two weeks and 300 miles ago and it is a great bike. Cannot fault it.
I tried the Trek 2.1 and CAAD9 but did not like either of them that much despite them being higher specs.
In you position I would ride the Trek and the Giant again and see if there is one you prefer over the other. If not, go for the one that looks the best.0 -
Add the spesh allez sport to your list, great ride. better than the giant, not sure how it compares to the trek0

I just got a rail super and love it ;-)

Very nice 8)
So how does it ride compared to the others you tested? You probably got a marginally better spec there really and supported a small local business. Kudos 8)winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

TBH I didnt test any other bikes. None of the other LBS offerd me a test ride and all seemed un-interested when they knew I wasn't spending more money ?!?!?
Ive had the bike around a month and already covered about 400 miles, can't get enough. Entered 2 sportives too, The Black Rat and Dartmoor classic.
Yes, they were a very small bike shop and I did feel better about giving my money to them rather than a big business like Halfords and the like.

Don't know about the Fisher, but spec wise is bound to be pretty good as it's part of the Trek family. Of the other 2, I would say the Giant has the better frame (lighter hydroformed alloy as opposed to standard double butted tubes) and the Trek has the better brakes and wheels, while the Giant has the better chainset. Pick the one that felt the best both in and out of the saddle0

buy what you think feels comforatable and nice to ride, you can research on if its good value for money and which groupsets are betterMy Rides:
