Hi guys,

What do you guys think of the new custom fit shoes by shimano? Are they worth a try? I am after a top end shoe and was looking at the Spesh Boas but my LBS are stocking these...

Shimano SH-R240

Has anyone got a pair of these or their even more expensive sibbling?

Any comments would be appreciated.

I know you haven`t mentioned SIDI Gab but please try a pair on before you commit to a purchase of any others.I was sceptical at first due to the hefty price tags and all,but once i tryed a pair, well that was it ive never looked back.

I got a pair of the R220 shoes from PX last December, but just started wearing them last month

I got the footbeds custom moulded for a tenner at my local LBS that does Custom-Fit shoes.

They didn't vacuum bag the whole foot - they said that was reserved for the top of the range model

They heat moulded the footbed first, then the heel cup - they feel very comfy and i find the fit very good - but i was coming from a nother carbon soled shimano road shoe, which i was happy with, but was statring to fall apart with age - i'm normally a size 8 (EU42) and a 42 shimano shoe fits me - my foot is quire narroa and i'm close to the limit of the ratches strap, but tonnes of adjustability.

The foodbed feels very comfy - much more so than my older non moulded footbed.

    I like them

I've got the R220s aswell, had them about 18 months. Had the whole shoe heat moulded to my foot. Great shoe, very comfortable and no flex at all. I'm a size 9 in regular shoes and these. Haven't found them particulary narrow like some people do, but they also do wider version of each size.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments regarding the R220 - sounds like the Custom Fit really works. The only reason I would go for the 240s is because of the colour :)

I am not looking at the SIDIs because I have a large and wide foot (a 49 in Sidis measurements) but their top-end shoes are not available in this size therefore I have to look elsewhere.

Spesh Boas are another option too. I will have to see if Shimano is producing these top end shoes in a size it fits for me.

    Thanks,
    Gabriel

Ive the older 310 model which were also vaccum bagged for the whole foot

Honestly, they are really pretty confortable, but dont solve specific foot issues (eg if you need a wider toebox, I had to go up one size to get enough room for a broken toe which sits wrong) and are not necssarily more confortable than top of the range SIDIs (which I have had and liked) and the Spesh Boas (which I had and didnt)

try some on - if they feel really confortable the moulding will make them more so, but its not a silver bullet.. I also found leaving mine in the back of a hot car in Mallorca then doing 100kms had a better moulding effect than the oven in the shop did!
