Does anyone own one of these?
I got sent one of these as a replacement for a single speed I had stolen. Great looking bike (the green one), nice wheelset and frame ect...
I have had it 3 weeks and the freewheel on it is making a hell of a noise! When I pick the back wheel up and spin the pedals, the pedals carry on spinning while the wheel is going around as if it was fixed! Are the bearings gone already??
This aswell as with one of the foot clips snapping like a poppadom!
For a £600.00 bike I thought the quality of the components would be a little better.
I commute 6 miles a day 5 days a week.
Any chance they will do this on warrenty at a Specialized dealer?
PS: I dont fancy going fixed gear for a quick fix!

Nice looking bike indeed!
What kind of noise is your freewheel making? Generally the more expensive the freewheel the louder they are - listen to a Campag one on a road bike or Chris King on a mountain bike - it's a sign the metal pawls are working correctly. Only shimano ones tend to be quiet. Only be concerned if it makes strange irregular type noises...
As for the pedals spinning when the wheel goes round that just happens on a single-speed when the chain is quite tight - nothing is broken. If you loosen the chain off a bit it should stop but there isn't really any need - you don't really want much slack.
Hope that helps!0 -
Well it was pretty quiet when i bought it, now it sounds awful, especially under load. Like a grinding as if something is grinding inside it.
Took it to evans, they made sure the lockring was on tight enough. They basically said its a sh1t quality freewheel used by specialized, and quote "the bottom bracket will go shortly too".
Thanks for the reply.0
