Rock Shox Toras... bit sticky/jerky

These are last years forks the black one's with coils, oil damping, and lockout.
Trouble is they're suffering a bit of stiction. I've just bought them....they'd been sitting around in a show room for a year, and I've been out for 3 rides on them all about a couple of hours long - should they have freed up by now?
It just feels like they need a bit of grease round the bushings. Am I being impatient, or should strip them down and grease them?
If they need a strip down - does anyone know where I can find out how to do this...?? Is the oil damping going to be difficult?
Thanks for your help.

you on't neccessarily need to strip them- just use some teflon based bikelube on the stanchions and seals, and pump them a bit0

Mine were like that for 5 to 7 hours of riding, than all of a sudden they became much smoother. I would hold on for a bit before stripping them, as i dont think it is necessary. i was talking to another customer in a bike shop one day who had the same forks (tora 302 u-turns 09') and he said exactly the same thing.http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12613038Cat With No Tail wrote:Anyway, fk dis, I iz off 4 a ride innit. l8rz peepz0

+1 for Teflon lube, just use it sparingly.Shot by both sides...0

Thanks for your help guys....
I had a feeling I was being impatient... however, when you say Teflon lube - are we talking GT85 type stuff, or the white grease?
Thanks

Teflon chain lube. Avoid GT85 and lithium grease.0

If its been sitting for a year unused in a shop the foam rings under the rubber seals could be dry and "grabbing" on the stanchion.Just leave the bike upside down for an hour or so, so the bushing lube can run down and re-soak them, this should smooth things out a bit,and I second the Teflon lube ,and they do take a while to bed in.0

Boydie,
I like your thinking, it certainly sounds very plausible, and they do feel 'dry'. I'll give them the upside down treatment plus a bit of teflon oil, and I'll give them a chance to bed in properly.

Get some forkjuice on them, that stuff seems to work a treat.0
