Hey guys,

Just thought id put a mention on here of Matty Chapman, an old school-friend of mine who was killed whilst out on his bike on sunday. I think he may also have used this site, as there is definately a member callled Chapo or Chappy who is from the Wirral/Wallasey area.

Matty was a gentle giant of a man and a genuine lovely lad. Such a shame.

My thoughts are with his girlfriend, his family and his friends.

RIP Mate X

That is tough news to hear. RIP.

I'll spare a thought for the driver as well. Horrible situation for anyone to be involved in.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Early enquiries are believe driver was excessively speeding - its a 40mph dual carriageway.

Really does make you stop and think for a minute - im a rush hour biker aswell, and i have a 3-month old baby. The mrs really isnt keen on me doing the commute now. What are you meant to say to that though.... "it wont happen to me" ???

I have always said that push bikes and cars are an incompatible set of tech on the road.

Cars are just so much faster and heavier, a cyclist doesn't stand a cahnce if someone makes a mistake or simply doesn't see. I personally never take my bike on raods these days i just don't feel safe witht he volumes of traffic.
