Bad bottle / Good bottle

When I got my bike on Saturday I purchased a £3.99 water bottle at the same time.

It stank of plastic fumes and even after washing there is a definite plastic smell to it.

I stumbled across a Thermos Hydro active water bottle for £4 in Tesco today and it had a 'BPA free' sticker on it. There is no plastic smell with this one and it looks nicer too.

SIS bottles are brilliant. Most bottles are, well, just bottles.SIS are almost worth talking about.

I have an SIS bottle and a camelbak one that has a bite valve and an internal straw so you dont have to lift it high to drink from it, all I need now is another bottle holder lol

Ohh neither really smell of plastic or have an after tase but after washing I make sure I dont seal them back up so if they do give off any fumes they don't collect.

Raleigh bottles are rebranded Zefal which I've bought recently not for the Raleigh name but for the Zefal name you can't see :(
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

IIRC there is something you can wash out plastic bottles with that removes the "new" smell from them but I can't remember what the heck it is :(

Bicarbonate of Soda removes the plastic smell/taste, in my experience.

AKA baking soda. Not to be confused with baking powder.

    Yes I used Bicarb.

BPAs have been linked with several types of cancer as well as some other nasty things and are already banned in baby bottles in the EU.

Better to buy BPA free for all food related plastics.
