HID is kind of old. And there have been some huge strides in LED technology in the past couple of years. I do A LOT of night riding and have replaced my old Lupine Edison (Metal Halide lamp) with one of the new Lupine Bettys which use 7 LEDs. THe light output is great and battery life no issue at all - 3 hours on max (1850 lumens). If you want something that gives you car-headlight seeing power on DARK country lanes, this is it. But you have to open the wallet pretty wide. Worth it to me because of the odd times of the day I have to fit in my rides, but it mightn't be good value to everybody.0

Go for the P7 from deal extreme, you really don't need anything else. And at that price it is a bargain!!0

Think about it, a 6 cell D 50cm pipe on your bars would look stupid, and get in the way. The Aldi one is 16cm and that'll be too long as well. I think something around 10cm is the limit.Say... That's a nice bike..

how does the magicshine mount to the bars, can you turn it upside down and mount it under your drop bars like you can with hope visions ?0

One other thing , how big is the battery pack for the light . Where is it attachment point on the bike ?
