the only bit of sarn helen i'm aware of (used to be a roman road so I assume it was much longer in its original shape) is linking pont-y-pant to betws-y-coed. i'd definitely do it in south-to-north direction as the final downhill is rather rocky and steep, but all rideable with a bit of skill and provided it's not too wet. for the record, here's a pic of the last section i shot when I first rode it http://www.flickr.com/photos/eikzilla/2 ... 002031643/
it's not a very long ride, but the scenery is really pretty and varied. you can easily do a nice loop by starting in betws, heading to pont cyfyng and taking the forest road to dolwyddelan, then crossing back via sarn helen. it's a good loop0
