Recently treated myself to a garmin FR60 to track run pace/speed etc, lovely stuff and well impressed. Previously made do on the bike with a cateye strada wireless (white of course) but thinking i would appreciate the extra stats/functionality of the edge 500.

I already have the cadence sensor and HRM strap. Anyone aware of a better online price than Handtec at around £150 ? Supposed to be doing 85 miles this saturday and thought it might be a nice first outing for it. Thanks!

The only reason to NOT buy is if you can't afford it. Otherwise go ahead! It's the best GPS/computer out there if you don't need full mapping on screen

    Sending mine back.

There's no manual zoom when doing a course (unlike the older 205/305). There's an
auto zoom based on where the virtual partner is, but not much use if you want to use it for
    navigation.

I know it's not meant for navigation, but the 205/305 courses were perfect.

Only reason not to buy is the colour, that's why I've held off, it don't match my bike! The black / silver version is out mid-May though so I'll have to be patient until then.

No trick, genuine question and wasn't expecting that swift a reply!

    Thanks
  • no problem, i was at work and in 'do it, delegate or delay' mode, before i knew it i'd read your question, replied and moved on .. . i need a holiday.

i still havent got round to buying the edge 500, my GSC10 speed sensor seems to have died already, only 3 weeks old so lets see how Handtec are at dealing with returns ..
