    Why worry?

Train to get fit. My bike probs weighs about 20 pounds, loaded with saddle bag and bottles it can be over 25 pounds and does not slow me down one bit cause I train. No need to worry about the weight of a bike. Unless it's ancient.

Mine weighs 19lbs, any lighter and I'd be throwing it around the road. Weight does impact your cycling but 18lb is nout to worry about.

Is yours an early RS? They put lead shot in some of the early RS models to get them to comply with UCI regulations.
Check the frame number - if it's in-between 0005000 and 0005500 yours could be weighted.

    I may be lying.

I win. I have a steel frame, steel fork, and no carbon, at all, on the bike. It's too heavy to weigh though.

Unless you personally are as light as you can possibly be, a pound of weight on a bike is insignificant. As long as it fits, handles well , is compliant where it needs to be, and stiff in the right places it's a good bike. It's amazing how many people roll up at sportives with ultra light bikes and carrying a few too many kilos on their person.
    Just enjoy your cycling!

Mine weighs in around 18lbs too and I'm more than happy with that. Any lighter and I'd feel afraid to really hammer it on the flat or get out of the saddle on climbs with my massive wei.... er power

That would be me. Without the ultra light bike and carrying a lot more than a few kilos.

My mate gets his Cervelo's for nowt. They are built with 7900, I was suprised by how weighty it felt. Not enough to give me hernia but still a bit of a lump.

    Rode lovely though...& looked cracking!

My father's carbon (which he is selling) weighs in at 9lb... Apparently the frame alone was £2500!

That would be me at my first sportive then. Ultra light bike and me at 89Kg 7 months ago.

Fortunately the ultra light bike kept me enthusiastic to keep riding.... at the next sportive I am still on the same ultra light bike but now weigh 74Kg.

Following your advice I would now have to sell my heavy bike and buy the bike I have enjoyed for the last 7 months

My cycling buddy in Melbourne has a 2009 Cervelo RS with full SRAM Red (size 51) and all up including pedals he says it weighs 7kg or 15.5lbs.... I think a 56cm RS frame weighs about 1050 grammes - so the frame is lightish but not super weight weeny light. Component choices (especially wheels and groupset) make the difference. I saw a video on Testrider.com where they weighed the stock Cervelo RS (as a full bike like they sell in North America) with Ultegra and it was about 18lbs.

18lbs is still 2lbs lighter than my bike.

I'm sure your Cervelo is still a great ride - I think they're a terrific bike.

My RS weighs in at 7.5kg according to the luggage scales... could probably lose 500g from the wheels if I had the inclination (and a grand to spend) and another 2-300g from other components but personally I love it just the way it is!

Yep my LOOK 585 Record throughout weighs 7.00kgs, nice to flick through the bends, handles superbly, but at the end of the day won't make me faster, but I just enjoy the ride better.

My Columbus Life steel bike weighs about 19 1/2 lbs or so. Last September I weighed 12 stone 2 lbs. I now weigh 10 stone 7 lbs. I reckon I've just made the cheapest upgrade ever. It certainly makes all the difference going up hills!
