Need help....

Hey folks, planning on doing a sopnsored cycle across america and need help selecting a bike and equipment etc.

I think im mad but its for a good cause so im giving it a bash. :lol:

any help would be appreciated...ive ben told to look at ridley, wiggle etc but i have no clue :(

  • the whole way across USA?! Have you done much touring? Most important thing is to get a bike which fits - local bike shop definitely the best to check fit rather than online. Check other threads here (things like "which touring bike").......

    put 'crazy guy on a bike' into google and check out the website, it has thousands of great blogs,and will be a great source of information for planning your ride.

    I'm off in a month to cycle the Trans Am for charity as well.

    My bike of choice is probably a bit overkill, but that is because I will head on to Australasia and Asia after America so I need more of an expedition tourer.

    I went for a Thorn Nomad Mk2 and I love it! The Rohloff hub is just a joy to use and the bike is bomb proof and rides beautifully.
