Continental tubes and tyres

I've been a fan of Conti stuff (especially on my car) for ages but have had some really annoying issues with their MTB stuff recently:

1) My MK Protection tyres suddenly went "porous" (loads of tiny bubbles appeared on the sidewalls when wet) then warped - no crashes or anything that caused it - it was fairly new too.
2) I blew up a Supersonic tube just by inflating it (to 50PSi) very carefully.
3) The valve stems pull out very easily.
4) The valve caps are made of cheese and crumble instantly.
5) Yesterday I had a flat - the base of the valve had just perished and sheared - this tube is a month old.

So for something that costs more than usual, I'm not that impressed.

Now on Schwalbe tubes.

rode kilder yesterday. on the main downhill run from the very top of the red i got 8 punctures in one go on a contie tube using contie tyres. annoying this was i though my new zesty with its UST wheels was set up as UST so was surprised to find tubes in there

You were riding a bike not knowing if it was set up tubeless or not? lol.

i just assumed being a £2800 bike that said UST on the rim and on the site the picture clearly shows a bike with tubeless written on the tyres that it was as advertised.

i understand bike shops are allowed to alter the spec slightly so not too bothered will just be converting it today.

That's curious...my Zesty came as Tubeless from the off. 10 months in, no flats to date.

    Ditch the tubes man!

I got conti MK's on my crush a few weeks ago and they are rather horrible...

I am giving them another week or two to see if I grow on them, but so far.....

poor traction in anything wetter than moist...45psi in there.. I want to run 'em lower, but can't because they squirm so much!

i don't use conti tyres, cos they're, well, crap, but i use conti tubes, as i haven't found them puncture prone, and they're the cheapest i found (£3 each at evans). i use spesh tyres

up until recently iv used contie vertical tyres and they have been a good cheap alround tyre. the tubes arnt bad but but sure how much you can expect from a inner tube for puncture resistance so carnt really comment

they might well be a good summer tyre....but again...not sure if i can get over that squirm....
