Handbuilt wheels

I'd like some lightweight, fairly aero, clincher wheels. At the moment I have some DA-7801s off eBay that are 1610g.
I was considering the Reynolds Attacks (32mm rim depth), but it seems that for less money I can get some handbuilt ones that will be lighter, use better hubs, and won't have the noise problem that the Reynolds carbon clinchers have when breaking.
I'm thinking of IRD Aero rims on DT Swiss 240s with CX-Ray spokes (Should weigh just over 1400g for a 20/24 spoke setup). My other handbuilt consideration are Tune 70/180 hubs with the same rim/spokes.
The Attacks are about £850 (Which is pretty much my maximum), weighing in at 1450g, and the handbuilt ones are just under £650 for 1400g.
Any opinions or information would be much appreciated.

Many of us here have used Derek @ Wheelsmiths to build wheels.
Hes, worth a look.0 -
I'd also recommend Wheelsmith, but I think Derek can be a bit optimistic with his wheel weights.More problems but still living....0

I have a pair of IRD Aero's built with CX Rays but on cheaper Novatec Lite hubs. They are a great wheel for the price, stiff and pretty light. I did take the decals off though cos they're gash.
Reason I go with handbuilts is that they're easier to repair if anything goes wrong. If a spoke pops I can take it to the LBS for a quick repair, likewise with bearings, freehub bodies etcExpertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/
