Indeed,
Rate My Face Plant!
These cursed trail Gremlins have it in for me lately I swear.
There I am, minding my own business, again, not even a challenging bit of trail, absolutely no idea what happened. One minute I'm fine, then next minute I'm digging holes in the hedgerow, with my face.
As a result, my left elbow is fooked, can't move my arm. My helmet is cracked and will now need replacing, I have several cuts to my face, a massive swollen bruise on my forehead and another one on my scalp where the helmet cracked. On the bright side though my nose has finally stopped bleeding and the bike has not a scratch on it
Helmet cam shows the crash, and the short bit of footage after it shows the trail I was coming down, then where my foot dug into the verge, then where my head dug into the verge, then the bike (which had somehow ended up facing the other way). Then there is a pic of my ugly mug and the nice big bruise on my head which has come up already.
I'm off to go soak my arm and have a little cry

Gawd I know how you feel, I had the bad one in cornwall not long back when my teeth went through my lip (stitches) and I broke some ribs... damn the wet rocks..
Glad you're OK though (and the bike too)0 -
Ouchies. My mate had a good stack saturday. He was behind me on this fairly steep downhill section, heard him shout "oh fu-!" just after I went round a sharpish corner so I quickly hit the brakes and look over my shoulder to see him rolling head over heels and his bike flipping over a massive tree stump, rather awesomely he action movie-stylee rolls through the crash, gets straight on his feet and while shouting "Keep going! Keep going!" picks his bike up and jumps straight back on without even checking it was still in 1 piece.0

That's what I'm saying, I have absolutely no idea! You can see that the bit where I came off is pretty much flat and free of rocks. I think my elbow went, and that's what caused me to come off because it's hurting like a mo-fo now and as far as I'm aware, I didnt hurt it in the crash because I fell on my right side.
My head is killing me now0 -

Lol, after coming off twice on Friday over the bars and the camera missing them both, once I'd made sure all limbs were still attached, first thing I did was check the camera to make sure it was recording.0

Now we know what you sound like when you're in pain!
Seriously that was a bizarre off, no reason at all, I replayed the crash a few times and it's like you hit an invisible mantrap
Good to know you're on the mend..0 -
Never fun falling off, but it almost feels worth it when you catch it on camera You were going quite a bit faster than I was last time I came off, I face planted but luckily my helmet didn't break or dig a hole in the verge like that! I was certain I must have smashed the camera, or at least the mount but they're pretty tough these MD80's. Hope you're back on the bike soon though0
