Hi guys,

Done a google and can't seem to get a clear picture on this..

1st question that does belong in this forum... which aero bottle fits the best on the cervelo p3?

You can see from the next two pics, that the aero bottle pictured doesnt really fit well with the p3 frame, compared to what I presume is a shiv in the second.

Found quite a few different models... but all dont look like they would fit any better..

Last question which maybe doesnt belong in here, is does the p3 even benefit from a bottle on the down tube as it is designed to be aero

Cheers

From what I've read - yes its MORE aero with a bottle on, but the round bottles are better than the flat ones in tests apparently.

Well a well fitting aero bottle would be better than a round bottle, but it needs to fit similar to the specialised bottle on the shiv. How much difference in real life I don't know, but I doubt it is much.

It basically fills the bottom of the frame , and creates less air disturbance around the bottom of the seat tube.

Now the P3 seat tube is curved unlike the shiv, and I am not sure you will get a 100% fit as per the shiv, don't forget the specialised bottle was designed for the Transition Pro/Shiv so fits 100%.

I have the specialised bottle on my frame (Giant TCR Aero), and mine fits pretty good, with only a small gap between the bottom of the bottle and the seat tube. Now the bottom of the bottle is concave so can be made to fit a bit tighter to the seat tube. It will be trial and error unfortunately.

Cant find the study that said that round bottles were better - but this is interesting :

I think it says that a round bottle on the down tube is only 0.45% more drag than the aero bottle. And it equates to 5 seconds in a 25 ?

I'd take it as a guide rather than a 100% accurate answer though.
