Okay, I know this won't be to everybody's tastes, but I haven't been this excited by a new bike for a while. My impatience to collect it this past week has been considerable.

And after having been chastised by cjcp, I thought I'd share it with you :)

Now. Back to falling off in the garden. :)

    Nice!

BentMikey (can't remember if he's on BR or CycleChat) rides one.

    Cool!

I don't understand this handlebar arrangement though... it looks very odd in that pic! I'd like to have a go on a 'bent. My cousin has one but keeps crashing it.

With the speed I'm intending this thing to go, they better be ;)

    Both, I think. He's here anyway :)

It does look a bit strange, picture aside!

The underseat steering options look a bit prettier, but it doesn't feel too bad to ride. That said, the novelty of being in a completely bonkers riding position isn't going to let me discern good/bad riding qualities :)

I'm sure I can get it loaded up with panniers and stuff, you're welcome to come and have a go ;)

Hence his handle.... he posts on both BR & CC.

Wouldn't mind a 'bent myself, though I think I'd prefer a trike to a bike (purely for the not-falling-off aspect).

    So, initial impressions:

It's really weird, the balance/steering feels all off - it's like learning to ride a bike all over again.

It uses completely different muscles - it's a lot slower starting off than I thought it would be. I sorta suspect that if I was a spinner rather than a grinder I'd have an easier time of it.

You really wouldn't believe the amount of road buzz you feel.

Everyone will stop to look at you.

................ as long as they stop :)

Have you actually tried it on the local roads or you were still in the garden?

So how long before you use it on a commute this summer?

    :)

People are beginning to know me far too well.

I'm likely to spend a bit more time getting the hang of it first, both so I can get it up to a respectable speed, and to be a bit more confident handling it.

    :) Good effort!

It's like a relaxed Chopper with those wheels. And, when you first look at the picture, it's like you've got a mini-tail gun instead of handlebars.

Does it have any sort of rear suspension at all? Or is the seat springy?

If you look at the pick full size you can see that the seat is a tube frame with stretchy mesh to sit on - looks pretty comfy!

Rode a couple of low rider 3 wheel recumbents on Millenium square in Leeds last year on the bike to work week event. Hope they do it again. I'd prefer Aidys sort for road riding though as it looks a lot more visible.

I think I'll be off now - just had a great idea. I'm going to invent the worlds first mountain recumbent
