I recently rode at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire. They'res some really nice single track and cross country there, but it's also a very hilly area and I noticed a few riders with downhill bikes and gear. I didn't see where they were going but there must be some sweet downhill around there, anyone know of any downhill tracks around that area?

Depends what you mean by Downhill to be honest. There are some off piste trails in the park itself but I've never riden them.

If you know where the car park at the back is then there's some stuff in the chalk pits there and if you follow the SDW up the road past the footpath on the right you'll see a firetrail going up to the top of Head Down. There's a trail in there that goes down to the railway.

You could try Rogate that has a DH track apparently but I've not been and there is also a nice trail at Kingly Vale too.

there are indeed a good few techy down sections mainly over the back and you pop out in buriton by the pits (not ridden the pits for 15 yrs)

To find the first one simply follow the track for the family trail and once you get to the top of the long fireroad climb there is a right in to the woods (not signed at all but has a lot of logs by it) this is a real technical single track down, good fun.....best run i have done at QE.

After that you can ride out the back and there is a bit of a hidden gem and some local trail builders have been doing there thing up there recently - really cool jumps and a couple berms - as i say bit of a hidden gem - you wont find it by accident....

Not sure if you knew but a few yrs back there was an actual proper Downhill race at QE and i went and found the route the other week with my mate who sort of remembered it, was pretty cool, quite a lot of singletrack through the trees but some quite open bits too - no major drops or anything - however there is one bit that always does me and have come of everytime :-( i will crack it soon enough!! lol

another option is try and tag on with someone one time who knows where they are :0)

    Interesting DOm.

I know the first one I think just after the bridal way climb as it come out onto the fireroad?

Where are the other two? I Would say I'd hook up with you but as my bike is away awaiting a new frame some rough directions would be good for now.

Hi, yeah first one is pretty easy to find - You follow the long fireroad climb which is the family trial and as you approach the top on the right you will see a bundle of logs on the floor this is the start - ends with a big dip!! then a rolll down to the road....

We then pop out on the road and climb up the road to the top then you reach a car park on the right and a dead end on the left? Go up the dead end another small climb eventually by a house is a wooden fence with a gap in it to get of and push bike though you then climb that track and hit an opening and the best run is the second left bout 800 yards once you come to the opening

when u get to the bottom ride left and you get to a gate and house then go left up past the house and you get to the top of the climb where you would have got off to push your bike though the gap in the fence?? Then roll down the hill back to the carpark i mentioned that was on the right orginally - Then ride up the climp and your back in QE half way up the original fire road from the family trail?

    Does that make any sense???

The third is too hard to describe!! But its in the main country park....

Im up there alot so once your back in action let me know maybe meet up there one day as im up quite a lot!! normally twice a week whilst weather has been good.

Ah so the second one is the one in the You tube link I posted? Or is it on the same hill but a different way down?

just watched your video - your on the right road but carry on a bit further and take the next left it much more in the trees!! and personally i think better than the one in the video - It pops out on the exact same firepath you came out on!

'You could try Rogate that has a DH track apparently'

This is an area called Tullecombe. Directions from Petersfield. Go along the A272 into Rogate. Once in Rogate village turn left at the crossroads. Climb uphill for about a mile. At the top theres another crossroads. Turn right and theres a car park about 50m on your left. You can pick up the DH track from there.
