Comments

  • Still places left in this race for E/1/2/3. So any 3 cats who want to ride an 80 mile race against some high level riders then why not enter.

3/4 cat race already has enough entries but field will be finalised on the closing date.

Are you still accepting entries for reserves in the 3/4 race?

Duggleby takes his best ever road race victory.

Former Junior National time trial champion Adam Duggleby (Team I-Ride) took victory and £250 first prize in the Peterborough Cycling Club – Baxter & King Construction Road Race held over 80 miles.
He led in his 2 breakaway companions, Richard Wood (Team Milton Keynes) and Gunner Gronlund (Frezza Pasta Monteg) after the trio had been away for the last half of the race on a windswept course that left only 28 finishers from the 78 starters.

The prime after 3 laps was taken by Wood, followed by Darren Barclay. An attack by Wood on the final lap was chased down by Duggleby with Gronlund appearing to be fading. Once into the finishing straight Duggleby started the sprint early and finished 6 seconds clear of Wood with Gonlund trailing in at 19 seconds.
It was another 2 minutes until Jefte De Bruin (Kuota Road CC) beat Jake Tanner (Team Sportscover) and Roy Chamberlain (Corley Cycles) for 4th place. The bunch, of 11 riders, then came in 20 seconds later led in by local rider Ben Price (Cycle Premier – Metaltek) for 9th place.

In the supporting race the wind also played a major part and the 32 finishers were spread across 4 groups by the finish. A break of 5 developed with 25 miles to go and this split on the last lap as the eventual winner David Furness (Doncaster Wheelers) and local rider Martin Jones (Fenland Clarion) escaped and built up a lead of almost a minute by the finish where Furness outsprinted Jones for the win.
