So a couple of weeks ago I bought a Panaracer cinder tyre for my rear on the advice of a bike shop owner. Quite frankly it sucks. I know its an xc wheel but the walls of the thing are made of paper! I would say that on 30% of my rides I have had a pinch flat. My riding is slightly all mountainy but I pump it up pretty hard (40-45psi) to try and negate this, regardless it seems anything bigger than a 2 inch drop and ill spend the next minute waiting for a flat!

Dont get me wrong other than this issue its great. Its just this is a major issue!

Am I doing it wrong?

I have had two on the bike all winter not had a problem and im a lard a$$ at 16 stone, i ride steps and rock gardens twice a week. I put 45 psi in mine as well so i dont think thats the issue although i do run with slimey stuff in my tubes as theres a lot of gorse arround here with 1" spikes on it :). Maybe you got a "friday afternoon" one with poor side walls, look on the bright side if it gets much drier youll need to put summat else on as these are probably overkill in the dry. 8)

  • 30-35psi in mine, 2.1 amd 1.95's been on the back, in 2 years had two maybe 3 pinchflats?

try running some heavier duty DH tubes if you have normal ones in still and maybe practice your landings if you coming down with a thud on the back wheel first then it will happen
