OT - annoying >> icon in Vista

When I open a folder full of pictures in Vista, all the thumbnails have a blue overlay in the bottom-left corner with a ">>" on it. If I increase the size of the thumbnails, the overlay gets even bigger in proportion and obscures my pics. What is it? How do I get rid of it?
