I keep seeing John Snow

Everytime I go to my favourite salad bar or towards the comic book shop I keep seeing Jon Snow the Channel Four news presenter.

I'm always on foot (its lunch) and he's always either on his hybrid waiting to rejoin the road (having just bought lunch) or getting off his hybrid to go and buy some lunch.

He wears a helmet.

Doesn't Channel 4 have runners to do this for him?

Not much more than really, just though I'd name drop.... Thank you for reading.

:D

Today I realised that the creator of LOLCODE lives a few miles from me, and works at the University.

He sent me a message on Twitter.

    "@wwwicked O HAI"

    I LOLd.

No idea if he has a bike though.

I used to walk the same way to stockwell station as tony Slattery. we'd quite often cross the road together at the pelican crossing.

Also used to drink in the same pub as the Mod character out of Only fools and Horses - the actor though, not the actual character, though he looked and dressed exaclty the same.

He's also the president of the CTC.

And he was kicked out of the University of Liverpool after a student protest "in which he threw paint over the statue of Queen Victoria in Scarborough" (unsourced on wikipedia!)

Does anybody else not get this stuff? Or am I just getting old? :?

I've been nearly run over by Paxman before (was on foot, not cycling).

But I do work next to BBC TV Centre (and at the time was working in it) so it's not surprising. See loads of the other newsreaders quite often. And The One Show studio's in my building so I see Chiles and Bleakley several times a week.

Why in Scarboro if he was at Liverpool Uni?

I went to Liverpool Uni too and had heard about him being kicked out, but never heard of the Scarborough incident and Google reveals nothing, so I think someone's telling porkies at wikipedia :?

EDIT - ...so I've edited the Wiki page and taken it off.

Must be just me then. The fact that I don't use MyTwitFace has probably got something to do with it!

Actually, re-reading the opening post again I think we've all missed the important point, which is...

I recall reading somewhere that Jon Snow was sent down for protesting about companies trading with apartheid South Africa - I think it was Barclays.

That was pretty good, although when he said 'I'd like to ban all parking on the left hand side of the road' I was a bit confused.

That'll be my left or your left?

Still, I see what he was trying to say.
