Trying to decide which wheels to buy out the two above. Currently have a set of Mavic Ksyrium Elites which have stayed absolutely true for about 12000 miles including a crash into a pot hole which snapped my carbon frame in half.Existing wheels need are about to need new rims, and I've been quoted £270 for rebuild with same rims.

Looking a replacement appears to be about £400 for the mavics and £325 for the shimanos. Anyone got any comments/reasons I should choose one rather than the other?

    RS80 = more aero, lighter rims
    Mavics = stiffer, more durable

    An IRD rim handbuilt might be lighter and as durable though? Worth a look if you're spending that cash.

    I always assume Mavics to be a solid build with reliability.
    Shimano wheels are equally good.
    the video test report I saw last year showed the chap was pleased with them and said they're good enough for racing and training etc.

    Not much in it TBH........I'd prolly go with the RS80's and save some money.
    That said, Pro Lite Bracciano wheels are £250 and equally as light.....approx 1500g
    Kore Gradient II are even less at £240 and are 1485g.
