I bought one of these as I want to change my cassette however nothing seems to fit. It's bigger than anything I have.

My biggest closed end spanner, or whatever you call it, is 19mm and it is way bigger than that.

My biggest socket for 3/8" ratchet is 17mm so I can't use the ratchet and socket either so before I go out buy the wrong thing can anyone tell me what size I need.

I doubt I will be able to get a big enough socket for a 3/8" drive ratchet so that looks like it is out the window so look like a closed end spanner is the way to go.

Get yourself a 12" adjustable spanner rather than a socket as you need to be put axial pressure on the lockring tool to keep it in place - or use the wheel QR - otherwise you can end up mangling the splines on your lockring.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Never thought about the adjustable wrench so I've just checked and my biggest one is an 8" one and it does fit the park tool however with being 8" it doesn't have great leverage. Do you think this could cause a problem if I tried to use this or should I just get the 12" wrench as recommended?

Shouldn't be that hard to undo!

OK that's great. Will give it a go after I get back from my ride.

    250mm Adjustable wrench @ Halfords - for a tenner + Park Tool FR5 = piece of cake

If it's a piece of cake with a 10" wrench then I'd say I'll be fine with the 8" one I have. Will soon know I guess.

Well yes and no. Make sure the smaller one fits your park attachment. This is the problem I had. Made me get a larger one you see .....
