They've got rid of a lot of the stupid animation which is great. Still couldn't get past the initial splashscreen though - poor Web design.

It's better than it was. I wouldn't say the spash screen was poor web design, as a designer I would say it was for functionality not aesthetics.

It doesn't run properly on Chrome, I had to run Firefox to see it.

But other than that problem it does look better than the old one which I found quite confusing. So hard to get up my favourite pics of the ladies range model.

I haven't noticed any problems in Google Chrome. I could navigate around and choose items. Where were you having problems?

@meanredspider I had no problems getting past the splash screen either and I checked that in Firefox 3.6, IE 8, Google Chrome 4.1 & Safari 4.0.5. Are you using the latest version of your browser and is flash uptodate?

Seems to run consistenly in all browsers so far as I could tell from a quick root around in each of them.

I like it. Easy to navigate and runs pretty fast for me.

Are we discussing the functionality & the way the site is designed or looking at the new gear Assos have on offer :D
As a graphic designer the site works perfect for me

Yup - I ran a Web development company for 3 years (one that started before most people had heard of the Web) and am now responsible for the safety and usability of electronic medical devices and Web sites.

All of that experience has taught me that if you can't see a way to close the splash screen because it's off the edge of the browser (why, I have no idea) and you can't navigate to it, it's not good design.............

And yes, I'm running the very latest version of IE8 (why, I have no idea either).

Equally, why do I even need to navigate past that screen? It's no better than a pop-up. I'm not interested - it's just irritating. And I get it each time I go to the site (edited to say that this evening it's stopped loading - except if I try a different browser or computer). How is that good design? Frankly it's no better than the Flash splashscreens that were popular 8-10 years ago that you had to click through to get where you wanted to go. Just let me through to the ladies' shorts section!

Sorry to rant but the old Assos site was full of silly animation - they've fixed most of that but left this there. The price we're paying for a pair of shorts, the site should be brilliant.

    .

Runs better for me in Chrome - some of the images on the homepage render poorly in (my) IE8
