I looked at Wiggle and they were expensive.

Looking for Ergo 2's as want Carbon Soles not Composite.

CRC do them for 179 but wanted to see if there was anyone cheaper

I recently bought a pair of ergo 2's from 5312. Despite a special platinum sale by Wiggle, their (5312) price were still cheaper.

Having said that, you can find various delas on "pre light sole"'s and '09 models if you shop around.

Thanks antikythera, most of them on there are not in stock.

Looks like CRC are the cheapest at £179, I could do with a pair in the slightly wider fitting 43+ but took a gamble that a standard 43 will be OK, if not CRC are quite happy to refund.

Free postage as well, my LBS although brilliant could do £200 for 2010, but to be truthful I couldn't see any real difference between the 2009.

£179 for the heavier carbon sole is a good price, the carbonlite sole are £250-260 online, however my LBS does the Ergo 2 Carbon Lite - Vernice 2010 for £214, which is pretty good considering.

SnOld, a word of caution. I felt extremely comfortable buying my Sidi's over the internet because my size was always spot-on. And my previous purchases never gave me any problems - they just fit like gloves.

However my Ergo's feel a little tighter than normal. If I release the bottom strap then they're fine. But this is the first time I had to do this. I'm not sure if this is a change in the design (!!!! I hope not) or because they are the vernice model.

If there is any doubt, I'd strongly recommended trying a pair on first or make sure that you keep the shoes in pristine condition for a possible return.

I doubt if the design has been changed but it's always possible I guess, I always thought sidis were more consistent with their sizing. Interesting thought about the vernice finish.

I was a little surprise with the tight fit myself. (Now that I think ot it) there are only two significant differences from my other shoes...

The finish, It has vernice microfibre instead of Lorica and

The heel retension system, I'd not release the tension here but that may play a part.

I got mine last year from JE James who were a good 10% cheaper than anybody else at the time.

I had no ordering issues either.

Does anyone know what the difference between the Ergo II's (which I have) and the Genius 6.6 is?

I had always assumed that the genius were a lower spec model, but looking at 2010 prices this doesn't seem to be the case.

    Thanks All,

I figured the Vernice finish might be a little inflexible and preferred the Lorica finish.

I am always respectful to my LBS before I shop elsewhere and visited them 5 weeks ago to purchase a pair, and tried on a pair whilst there, unfortunately they didn't have the colour I wanted so I ordered a pair in the wide fitting, but it wasn't until I got home that I realised I had a pair of winter socks on not my usual summer socks.

Unfortunately Sidi still have not been able to deliver the new 2010 version and in addition have upped the price from my originally agreed £160 to £200.

And I really want to get them settled in before I do the L2P in June.

Bob, on the Sidi web site the Genius has a flexible tow and arch: -

    http://www.sidiuk.co.uk/road/ergo-2-carbon.html

One thing that I never do is go to LBS's (unless they are big multi-chain) and experiment with sizing, that I consider bad form, I don't believe in wasting their time and resources.

I agree 100% and hold firm on this too... with one exception. When the store treat me (and customers in general) like scum using every oppurtunity to look down on their customers.

There is one notable store like this in London - and I have no hesitation to "use" them as a consequence. Apologies if this offends (but their "service" offends me more)

The Genius 6.6 has velcro straps and the Ergo IIs have the fishing line fixing system. That's it as far as I can tell.

Apparently on their site they say that the Genius have a flexible width and toe.

The Ergo 2s are still the top of the range afaik. The Genius vary wildly in price that's the problem.

On an aside... has anyone had both Specialized shoes and Sidi, I have 43 Pro Spesh but always have a side of the foot niggle with them... Ive tried on Sidi's which fitted and my memory's vague but thought a 44 fitted, shoe suited my foot for sure... is that about right, one size bigger or better to ind a 43.5. Can always send them back. After some Ergo 2.

I own both the Genius 6.6 and Ergo Vernice and can't say I've noticed a difference, although I've only tried on the Ergos - they're my new shoe for summer this year.

With the Genius I've found that I have to have the velcro really loose, which looks a bit naff.

Ebay is your friend. I have bought several pairs of Sidis on Ebay and prices there were cheapest by far.

But you sometimes have to get lucky on size and model and colour.

As for Ergo 2 and Genius 6.6 - the only difference is the velcro buckle instead of the circular ratchet tightener.

However - there are many models of the 6.6 still around. They have changed over the years slightly and the model year will determine the price.

I paid about £150 for my 6.6's and £180 for my Ergo 2's.

Sizes are pretty limited to the larger ones, but good prices for the Ergo 2s with heavier carbon soles. Genius too. The present Ergo2s with the carbon lite sole are pretty expensive at £290. You can get them much cheaper than that.

Here is my take on Sidi ergo 2 lites- vernice.

The 1/2 sizes are on the same sole as the previous whole size but slighty wider, they look nice and have plenty of adjustment if you prefer buckles and clips to riding!

I ve had mine (a 45 1/2) for about 2 weeks and this is what i ve found, they are fiddly (too many points of adjustment) and on my left foot seem to have a pinch point under my small toe which appears to be the insole being too narrow, leaving a small gap between it and the upper. also despite the heel adjustment, they do not fit my heel anything like as well as my previous shimanos - R160 - which had a thermol fit and shark tooth material in the heel cup.
As for the much talked about "lower stack height" this is only achived by using a very thin insole!
Even in the UK , i dont think they ventilate well, certainly not as well as my Shimano's

Unfortunately, these issues were not immediately apparent so i'm stuck with them.

Think hard before purchase, IMOH they are over priced junk trading on all that sponsorship, marketing and a so called famous name.

Having now done nearly 200 miles in my new Ergo II's, I can have to say they are superb and worth every penny.

The size is bang on, super comfy, stiff, easy to get on and off, the middle adjuster really is a God send for adjustability, don't think I have ever had such a comfortable pair of shoes.

I particularly like the fact that they don't have loads of mesh and therefore your feet don't appear as cold.

    Top shoes. 8)
