I see on most of Treks bike they are kitted out with Bontrager components, like wheels, bars etc. Is the kit any good and what is it comparible with?

I've got plenty of Bonty kit on my Trek XO2 and I'm pretty happy with it. The wheels especially (Race X-Lites) are light and strong and have held up well to over 2k miles in all conditions.

For comparisons with other brands though, you'd have to get more specific as they make all kinds of components for all budgets.

I think I read somewhere that Keith Bontrager once said of his stuff: 'strong, light, cheap - pick any two' - essentially it's all about trade-offs.

I have used lots of Bontrager stuff in the past. Still have some on my Trek now (bars and training wheels).

They make great bars, stems, seatposts and wheels. Strong, sturdy stuff.

A bit like FSA if you want a comparison. Comes in cheap and cheerful, right up to the full carbon ultra-light stuff.

Great kit - plenty light enough for weenies and strong.

I have plenty of the kit on my bikes: bars, stems, tape, xxxlite tubes etc
