Hi Guys

Not ridden my mountain bike for a while so just took it for a quick spin on some paths and it seems that my front break seems to have developed a shudder when braking hard

Any ideas why and how to sort it?

the bike is a 2009 rockhopper by the way

    it happens.
    contamination.
    glazed over. dirty rotors.

Get some disk brake cleaner or IPA and clean the rotor and pads. and maybe even gently rub the pads with a fine sand paper to take the glaze off. then re-bed the pads
  • I had the same problem with my rear brake and turned out to be that the caliper bolt's had worked their way loose
