Spesh Pave seatpost
Just took delivery of my new seatpost, a Specialized S Works Pave SL Zero Carbon Seatpost. The instructions are terrifying; apparently I need one of their seat collars (or one specific Campag one) that clamps together around a curve rather than in a straight line. I'm then supposed to reverse the collar, so that the gap in it doesn't line up with the gap in the seatpost.
Anyone have a view on whether this is strictly necessary? I don't mind reversing the collar, but getting a specific one seems a bit over the top.

I have found that it is quite easy to gouge the surface if you are not careful.
I solved installation issues (and the visual faux pas of having your clamp the wrong way round) by using the following which has an internal collar so you dont have clamp joints joining up and allowing unequal clamping pressure
