Endura Hummvee shorts are comfortable reasonably priced too

I'd second the hummvees. good quality, loads of pockets, detachable liner and a good price.

Altura mahem are pretty good value - decent baggy short including padded separate inner for under £30. They are pretty long for normal shorts and sit below the knee.

I've also got the singletracks which are more heavy duty, these aren't as long and sit just above the knee (and don't come with padded inner)

micksjoiner: Singletracks are quite a bit shorter than Humvees. Dakine 8 Tracks are tough and comfortable but absolutely massive and the lurid blue lining rustles.

like the sound of free liner with the humvees wound fit in my single track trousers too

More 'included in the price' rather than 'free'. It's a bog-basic 6-panel liner with a Coolmax Silver pad in the XCJ/roadie position. There are far better liners available separately if you can get some Humvees without the liner - my lbs was happy to sell me some without the liner.

+1 been using them for years and the first I bought show no signs of wearing out. I use them with generic altura/endura undershorts.

Recently got the trousers too for general working and workwear as they are so tough, comfy, full of pockets and quick drying. They've fixed a rivet into the irritating little side adjusters so they don't keep unthreading too.
  • Endura all the way!....Zymes r a nice short...get a size smaller tho (i'm usually large, but needed a medium...also the Burners r tiptop...very short for 3/4's...fairly water resistant 2...again, size down

    Same here.

I really hammer my gear and these just keep on going.

I Nikwaxed mine so they are also almost 100% waterproof (and breathable). Only downside is that the Nikwax makes them more slippery!

Use my normal length Singletracks for casual and for running shorts too - they are that comfy (and look fine too)
