this is my first bike since i was a kid and i did not want to spend alot so i bought this off ebay for £100

it is a carrera kraken disk brake

i then striped it and sanded all the parts for paint because it was a bit rough

here are the parts painted

here are the wheels and some new parts i also put on a new rear cassette and cables

here is the bike built back up

and here it is finished with all the stickers on new tyres and new pedels the hole thing only stands me about £170 so not that bad for a bike that looks brand new

If your gears aren't working, could be a few things. Bad adjustment, in this case its just doing a few screws, parktools have lots of guides on doing that. Or it could be worn components, how worn are the other components?
  • the gears are shimarno and it is a new chain and new rear cassette

    Looks good!

Any tips on spraying? Just bought a second-hand frame that's going to be a 'project' over the next few months.

Did you remove the old paint, sand it back etc?

Also how did you mask the BB shell, brake mounts seat post etc?

    Thanx

  • the best thing to do when spraying is take your time sand between coats and lots of thin coats insted of thick ones

when it is dry sand it with fine wet n dry then g4 it then t cut then pollish it will come up like glass

    good look

+ 1 there. I have a Genesis Flyer and it's now looking tatty as hell. Want to paint it all luverly and white again but didn't know where to start. This is a brilliant job and really shows me the way forward. Thanks.

Apologies for the Spanish Inquisition style, but...

Which paint did you use by the way? And where did you get it? Is special paint required?

    Cheers!

    :lol::lol:
