I saw..... but I didn't believe. To be honest I never do believe when I watch Barca play and Messi's on form0
-
Arsène's not always gracious in defeat, but his post-match quote seems pretty honest:We had chances, but when you have players like Lionel Messi you pay for any mistakes you make. He's the best player in the world by a large distance. He's not always in the game, but when he gets on the ball he's unstoppable. When he changes direction at such pace no-one can stay with him. Congratulations to Barcelona, they are better than us.0

indeedy, best since Zindane imo.0
-
As good as Zidane on the ball, but much more dangerous in front of goal0

He is indeed a God :P . I hope we come 5th, I dont want any of that happening to us thank you  .0 -
best player I have ever seen,
Maradonna was never consistant and was totally mental at times (even if we know why now)
Pele never played outside Brazil and thats a HUGE question mark on him in my opinion
Messi has it all and he is still only 23 .... thats scary0 -
He has been linked to doping in the past...

Messi is the best player ever IMO.
He has everything.
Barca's record scorer in the Champions League at 23. Imagine what that total will get to!0 -
But remember its always easier when you are playing a team with no defence and a keeper who wouldn't make it into a park team.
Lets face it Arsenal struggled to beat Wolves on the weekend, so Barca with or without Messi was always going to be a step too far.0 -

Maradonna wasnt both footed either, although his left foot allowed him to waltz through England's midfield then the defence as if neither were there. Pele wasnt "allowed" to leave Brazil for a European Club.
Had to think for a while but at 23 he is probably the best player I have seen, what could he be like at 28 or 29?0 -

correct - barca basically got him from Argentina as they said they would pay for his growth hormone treatment that he needed as a VERY small 15 year old - which they did0 -

Apart from when he won the World Cup for Brazil in Sweden in 1958, In Chile(?) in 1962, and in Mexico in 1970 and when failing to win World Cup in 1966 in England.
In an era when players did not play club football for teams outside their own country very often, it is therefore unsuprising he never played club football outside of Brazil.
BTW I could have sworn that New York was in the USA rather than Brazil, but there again, you may be right and the New York Cosmos were based in Brazil, not New yorkWant to know the Spen666 behind the posts?

He's not From Argentina
He's from Brazil
He's f*ckin brill
To celebrate signing this Braziliian, what did Newcastle fans start wearing? - Sombrero's of course. Quite logical really to wear Mexican hats in homage to a BrazilianWant to know the Spen666 behind the posts?

you are right, he was playing for one of the power houses of club football at the cosmos !
and international football is no where near the same standard as top european club football, even back in the 1970's. International football by its very nature never has the same number of top top players and are dominated by sides lucky enough to produce 1 world class one backed up by 4-5 good ones.
If England were in the prem for example I think they would struggle to finish 4th or 5th0 -
I still think the best brazilian was one I saw last weekend...but that's another story0
-
I wouldn't go so far as to say Messi is THE BEST player I have ever seen, but he is the most dangerous attacking player I have seen.
Now for the controversy....... the best (which in my eyes means most complete attacking and defending) player I have ever seen is..............
Xavi, closely followed by Bryan Robson0 -
Amazing goals - could be the outstanding forward of the World Cup; odds on Argentina winning must have shortenned.T Farr0
