Anyone have any thoughts on these and which one is better? I'm thinking about one as a commuter and training bike.

Cheers.

They're identical but for the paint jobs, or anodized jobs, and possibly which seat post you get with it...

The SLT in black is best, this years S1 next... the other colours are a bit meh.

Cheers. I thought the forks on the Soloist were different (had a steel steerer, I think). Did they put the 3T on the S1 as a result of the recall of the Wolfs?

Yes they are the same frame - but you're right about the fork - the S1's have the 3T forks. I like the 2010 colour scheme (unlike most of the rest of the Cervelo paint jobs for this year which I don't think are great). Are you looking at new or used for the S1? Best price I've seen is £850 ... but some googling may find it cheaper.

I agree the Soloist Team Anodized looked great too.

Thanks. +1 about the paint jobs and the Team's look.

Ideally, I'm looking for new. That's about the best price I've seen so far, too.

I have one of these - the anodized soloist team. Very sweet set up with dura ace 7800 so all matches in colour - grey/silver apart from stem/post/saddle/tape.. Beware that if you want a long drop/high post the medium carbon seatpost that came with mine was too short for safety and I had to buy a longer one and sell the medium on ebay. Also the fork steerer on old ones is metal (the safe Wolf CL fork not the dodgy Sl carbon steerer version they recalled)..but you wont notice the difference in fork anyway as the alu frame is v. stiff. All in all its an amazing bike. Just did Flanders sportive on it and used for all winter/sping/autumn events to save my other bike for real best days... ..very happy with it and it will last for years and years...

  • I've got a soloist, bought it on here, everything they said is correct. Same frame, virtually unchanged from it's inception save for a few minor tweaks.

The fork differences are mostly due to various alliances with parts suppliers. All Cervelo frames come 3Td now, whereas my Soloist has the Easton EC90 fork, so I wouldn't worry bout the difference.

Though if you're looking for new, you'll get a good deal on a 2009 S1 if you can find one in your size.

This is very highly recommended by me as I love mine.

Not sure why everyone fusses over the black anodized frame though, really don't like it much. I prefer the reds and blacks.

I went through the same predicament asking questions on various forums and my mind was made up when I was sent a photo of an anodized black. A few months later I had a old stock BUT brand new, factory warranted frame. Over the next few months I bought the components and my LBS built it just over a week ago. And here it is:

The black does look nice. I was initially keen on the silver and red or the grey and black. Decisions, decisions!

Go get one!.. I would have got and 09 frame but couldn't find any in my size, non in my size for £850 either so i ended up paying £899.
I had to hunt around for one though because most places are out of stock at the moment as is the distributer..

Cheers - a mate sent me a link to that site. Their site is presently open in another window! :) The problem with being off work is that the cursor tends to hover over the "Buy" button too often for my wife's liking...

@warrier4life - very nice. Still can't decide between that colour or the anodized Team! D'oh!

5339 isnt a registered dealer and so i'm not sure your warranty can be registered. Dont quote me but better check. I was looking at that site a coupe of years ago for a frameset. If you arent bothered about warranty then there are frequently second hand framesets going on here/ebay etc for between £350-650

I'm not sure that's true. They are a registered Cervelo dealer and 5339 is their online trading name/brand. You can find them on the Cervelo dealer locator - this is my understanding anyway ..... if it's not true - can you explain why?

If anyone is thinking of buying from them - it would be worth calling them to be sure.

If they are not a real dealer - the warranty point is important.

I may be biased - you should probably never trust a man with red tyres!
