Hey,

Need a bit of advice; I'm bloody great at picking super expensive shiny new kit for custom builds (who isn't!). But I'm just bought my first HT frame on eBay! It’s a Cove Stiffee and looks a little like this:
BpsVrg2kKGrHqYH-CIEuh4buWwdBLsgfSBM.jpg
I'm broke after 8 months of unemployment (thankfully working again now!) so I'm planning to build it up over a couple of months with second-hand bits from eBay and the classifieds when funds allow, I've got most of the spec in my head.

Forks are the big question... Love a set of Fox 32 Floats, but these are really pricy.
So I’m looking for bargain 140mm tough second-hand forks.
I fancy some Rochshoxs, but they seem to do 3 types of 140mm’s and I’m clueless as to what they’re for and I have no experience of Marzocchi 44’s.
What shall I look for?
P.S. Please don’t bother posting up about actual stuff you’ve got for sale 1) the mods will get angry with me 2) I’ve spent all this month’s bike money and it’ll be another month before I can buy anything.

    Thanks both.

Why the Coil ones? TBH I was specifically looking for air ones as I'm 15st + and didn't want to have to cock about getting heavier springs for them.

Agree with Pikes, mine are air and they're great.

They are plusher (generally) than Air, although Air gives you shedloads more tuneability.

But I shall echo the above sentiments and say PIKEs as well...... damn good forks!! If you look around on classifieds and the bay, they always pop up at reaonable prices

Pike's it is then - thanks.

If it's just a plush thing I've survive, I've run air 36's for 3 years and I'm fine with them - just making sure there wasn't a common fault with the Air Pikes.

My mate runs Coil Pikes on his Pitch and is a chunky lad like me, I'll ask him where he got his spring.

I have a pair of 140mm Rev's and they are superb. Load of adjustment available to tune them how you want. Even change on ride to ride basis depending on where you are riding.

Pikes or 426 140mm Revs- they're basically Pikes on a diet.

I would leave the Foxes alone unless you can see them stripped down.

  • Pikes, if you look on the classifieds here they come up every now and again, various models in various conditions. Also try Pinkbike classifieds, that's usually a pretty good source for stuff like that.
