trying to get a bit more life out of a bike

Hi
I've just my 11 year old out on her 24" hotrock and she has grown loads over the winter :? she now looks like a monkey on a mangle and we can't afford to buy again until sept/oct. I was wondering what would make it a better fit. I was thinking moving the seat back on the rails and maybe a layback seat post along with a longer stem to move her knees away from her hands. Or has anyone got any other suggestions?

If every action has an equal and opposite reaction does that mean I will be eaten by a fly?

My personal view:
I wouldn't risk her knees' health. So I would rather buy her a new bike, and I would then just eat beans on toast for the rest of my life...
Seriously, can't you just find something second hand on ebay? Infact, wouldn't you be able to finance part of the new purchase by selling the current one on ebay?0
