Looking for a route... Tyne Tunnel to Sunderland

hi,

i'm planning a loop from Sunderland over the tyne, back under it and back to Sunderland.

can any recommend a route from the south side of the tunnel back to sunderland?

    Hi, i gather you mean the CYCLE TUNNEL, if so out of the tunnel turn left, head for SOUTH SHIELDS to the sea front, then it is nice ride down to SUNDERLAND, you can use either the cliff top path, or a cycle lane is next to the road most of the way till Seaburn,

    OR instead of useing the tunnel why not use the Shieds ferry, that lands in South Shields
    then turn left to the sea front.

    hi,

    i've done the journey now, i didn't want to return by the route i took to get to shields.

    my route was, sunderland to south shields along the coast, across the tyne on the ferry, over to the cycle tunnel back under the tyne then i wanted to get to washington to pick up the C2C route.

    managed to do most of it but did get a little lost after coming out of the tunnel as I have no experience of Jarrow/Hebburn.

    NB the straight line from the tunnel was when i paused sports tracker and forgot to hit continue :oops:
