Hello,
does anyone have a recommendation on a cycle comp with cadence on it? Pref wireless but open to suggestions. To be used for training purposes.
Also who are a goof brand for bib shorts? I'm from a baggy shorts back ground and mountainbikes and got some funny looks on my first road ride with mtb spds and animal baggy shorts!
Cheers

Depending on your budget, the Garmin Edge series is a very handy tool with cadence and heart rate features. You can also create workouts and upload them to the unit for training. Another bonus is the cadence and speed pick up from the rear wheel, so is perfect for using on a turbo.0

Depends on your budget but if you havn't got a lot to spend you could go for the Polar CS100 and the Cadence kit - some people don't like polar because you have to get the batteries changed on the components, but I'm more than happy with the one I bought last year (given the price)
hope that helps some....0 -
I was going to suggest the Garmin Forerunner 305 (try Handtec.com for great prices). The Forerunner can be used for running, cycling, skiing, hillwalking - it comes with a HRM and you can pick up a cadence sensor too and a bike mount (or just wear it on your wrist). Upload routes to Google Earth.
As for shorts, it's a very personal choice. I love the Assos ones but they aren't cheap but beautifully made. DHB from Wiggle are great value. The only ones I've tried but hated are the Endura Meryl-style - just awful - huge but useless chamois and different-sized leg openings.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Bib shorts - the dhb range from Wiggle get great reviews and I have been looking at these myself for my first purchase.
Also not long purchased a Cateye V2C computer (cost £80 from LBS). Fantastic bit of kit with a very simple to attach speed/cadence sensor. Has loads of options - easy to fit and set up. You can also for about £10 more get a V3C version that measure heart rate although the V2C does everything I need. Reviewed on this site.Trek Madone 5.9

i've used a polar cs200cad for a few years and has got all the functions you're after and from www.affordablesupplements.co.uk for £75
and shorts i'm sold on spesh rbx i have just bought some bib 3/4 aswell as my bibshorts.....very comfy....though pricey but not compared to assos and the like.0 -

Forerunner 305 at 127 quid - great value GPS monitoring.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
This months Cycling Plus magazine has an excellent feature/review of a load of bib shorts. All diferent price ranges too.0

Forerunner is superb, especially if you cross train. Don't forget that you also need to buy the wireless cadence sensor, and probably a handlebar mount.0

I've used Cateye, Blackburn and Polar in the past. The Cateye was by far the best. It did just what it said on the tin. The polar was a pig to set up and was always loosing the signal from the speed sensor and as has been said before the sensors are sealed units and you can't just change the battery. If you don't mind spending £24.50 on a new senor as apposed to £1 for a new battery then that won't be a problem. The Blackburn isn't as bad but now and again it freezers and you have to take the battery out to reset it loosing all the saved data.0

The Topeak Comp140 isn't wireless, but has as many functions in a computer as you can probably want and expect for £30, including cadence.0

for my first pair of bib shorts i went for the altura progel. got them through discount cycles direct - google it. 39 quid delivered.0

I had same dilema. Narrowed it down to Garmin Edge 500 or Sigma Rox 9.0. For me it was choosing the benefit of GPS with the Garmin or long life battery with the Sigma (both did everything else). Ended up with the Garmin and very happy, I like the online garmin connect software too.
Got the version with heart rate monitor and cadence sensor £185 here

Use Altura progel shorts also. No problem but start getting numb-bum after about 2.5 hours. Going to try some Assos or Gore next as soon as I can find some spare money as they seem to get decenty reviews on here.0 -
Re bib shorts I can recommend the mid range Gore Ozon Shorts. You can pick up new ones on ebay for about £50. The next step up are the Xenon which I believe use the same pad as the Assos's ones. Alternatively these guys loved the Giordana Tenex http://www.roadcyclinguk.com/bike-reviews/bib-shorts-group-test/1676.html.

If you have Shimano, their Flight Deck works well and you don't have to use or wire up a cadence sensor as it calculates it for you. Shows what gears you are in also.0

I'd recommend a Garmin 705, but, if you don't want to go that far, the Cateye Strada Double wireless is excellent.
Re the bibs... Assos, the only way to goStart with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Just bought Strutt Bib shorts, giood value and comfortableRichard
