I'm thinking of getting a Gourdon 20 to use as a daypack, and just wondered how small they pack down.

They've got the sit mat thing in, but other than that can it go pretty flat? The bag it'll be going in has got a pouch for a hydration bladder, so if it squahses down how I think it will, it'll fit in that nicely and just slide down the back of the pack.

TIA!

i have the gourdon 25, and i reckon with a little creative folding (removing the sit pad obviously) it would fit into the bladder pocket of my m.u.l.e, the only issue is the roll top reinforcement, but fold the bag round that and place it into the pocket lengthwise and it probably fit in quite neatly.
    Fancy a brew?

If you take the back pad out of the 20 it'll fold down into small flat size 'cause it's just material + straps. rolling it length ways and folding in half could work. either way it should be easily forcible into an orifice.

    *WMB for reference

The thing about it just being material and straps is what I wanted to hear really. I could take out the mat, slide it down the back of the pack, then fold the Gourdon in half and put it in the 'WMB pocket'.

    Just one more thing.....[/columbo]
Are the coloured ones the same colour on the inside as the outside?

I'm thinking a lighter colour will make it easier to find stuff hiding at the bottom.

same colour in as out, you can't see through them. the big ones have a window. but the 20L is not really big enough to lose anything.

I took these yesterday to give you an idea of the 20 but never got round to uploading them.

Ah, thanks for that blister pus.

Ordered the Gourdon in 'Jaffa' and a head torch* last night, so they should hopefully be with me tomorrow.

I'm sorely tempted by one if these, but have they got any pockets/compartments inside? For thngs like mp3 players etc... It would be my work, for my bait and other "manly" items!

it is in essence a simple one component canoe sack (water tight) with straps attached.

I find by the time you've put a few outdoor-y items in one and bits and pieces and organised what you've put in and done the compression straps up properly even a small load is pretty secure. Probably requires a bit more thought packing but the simplicity is also it's versatility.
