New to this forum so firstly hi. But can anybody suggest some decent hydrolic brakes as an upgrade from my old mechanical ones. I am looking at the cheaper to middle end price bracket for them.
Cheers chris.

Hi, welcome!
What bike is it for? What sort of riding do you do?
When you say cheaper to middle end price bracket, can you be more specific?
Avid Elixir 5?
Seem to be budget brake of choice lately.0 -
For a hardtail bike that does general XC. Not looking to spend loads on them but as hoping for some at the cheaper end. Them brakes you suggested look expensive is that the sort of money you need to pay for hydrolic brakes.0

The ones I suggested above are £135. For that, you get front and rear brakes, fully assembled, with all the fittings you need and 2x 160mm rotors.
That's the sort of money you need to pay for Hydraulic brakes that actually work well.0 -
ok cheers where have you seen the £135 for both price?0

Chain reaction are doing the Avid juicy 3 for £50 an end.

£50 gets you the caliper, disc rotor and a mount but be aware there are 2 different mount standards. You need to check what fork mounts you have before you order so you get the right mount

I'd say to go with Clarks S2 - awesome power, come with braided hoses as standard and use Hope compatible pads so spares are easy! You can pick up a pair for around £100 (sometimes even less) from all the usual places.0
