I currently use my garmin on my 'winter' bike and 'dry weather' bike. The sensor on the w.b. hasn't worked for a while but after reading a previous sensor post I am going to test the unit and try to rescan it.

My doubt is, does each sensor unit have a different wireless connection and if so will the computer be able to recognise this and operate according to which ever bike I am riding - correctly identified of course, or will I have to rescan each time I change bikes?.

You need to make sure you have set up different profiles for each bike, then before you start riding change the profile to the correct bike and the sensor should pick it up automatically providing it has been scanned in the first place.

Thank you Slow-N-Old, sounds as though this should be my monicker, that does sound logical.

I'll get it all set up and see if it works or if I need a new sensor.
  • Just to add some information to this each sensor has a unique ID. Set the bike profile up then select yes for speed cadence sensor and scan it in. Do this for each sensor you have. You can then look at each bike profile and see the unique ID number for each sensor. Make sure the other sensors arent within 10 feet when scanning. As already stated you need to make sure you have the right bike profile slected when changinmg bikes or it wont pick up the sensor.

Ive got a Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor on 3 different bikes and I use both the 705 & 310XT. It finds the lot everytime, probably down to profiles!

A rescan takes 10 secs if not easy peasy
