I’m looking to buy a Scott Scale 50 (XXL) ‘cause I need a really long tt. However, after browsing a few posts, weight might be an issue in a purchasing decision.
I’m 130kg. Will I break a Scale 50 on trail centre stuff?

i am 20stoneand first road a gt avalanche.with ugraded wheels. am just about to ridea orange blood freeride built so bloody strong. i would upgrade your wheels on my bike if ya a lardy like me0

At least the Scale will give me an indication of the size I need. The first 19"+ bike I've not had to pay 40 quid to sit on!
What hardtail d'you reckon for £800-1200? Giant, Spesh or Gary?0 -

Hunt around, check the geometry sections on bike's websites for specific models. How tall are you just out of curiosity? 6'6" and get onto 21" bikes at a push, the long Stumpjumper HT was probably the best fitting I've ever had.
I've bought bikes and quickly sold them on again sharpish due to the top tube being too short though.0 -

I'm 6'6" with 'only' a 36" inside leg, therefore a real long back and arms. On most 19" frames, I'm just sitting up straight.
I looked at a Zaskar as suggested above, but UK spec bikes have short tt. It's a pain i must admit.0 -
What TT length are you after?
Medium frames have an ETT of 595mm. XL is 634 (25 inches).
Rockhoppers have long top tubes.0 -
I bought a rockhopper due to my hight and weight. im 6'9'' and the 23' hopper sits me perfectly. I believe the tt length is almost identical on the 21' which might be slightly better for you??0

I sat on a 21" P7 today and that was too wee in tt length. So, from that I reckon I need a minimum of 640mm with a longer stem? So R'Hopper/Stumpy should be okay @ 21/23! Or maybe a Hoo Koo E Koo.0
