Hi all,
just to put a couple of rumours i have heard and read to bed.

firstly the forestry commision isnt going to supply the new port talbot wood burning power station with afan/bwlch forest wood!!

secondly the temp. closure of PENHYDD is just that temp. it has been open for 10 years and the forest within it needs to be thinned which will take about a year, leaving a revamped PENHYDD to follow!! Also in 2012 SKYLINE will close for the sighting of a new wind turbine project again this will be replaced! the time issue has yet to be resolved, but i do now that as PENHYDD has about 30,000 riders a year and SKYLINE 10,000 the forestry commission has yet to decide on the trail to replace it!

I recieved this info. yesterday from the head ranger at afan.

cheers paul

Yeah that's pretty much what I've heard. Shame Penhydd will be gone for a year, and won't be the same when it's reopened, but it's it's better it'll be great.

There was also a vote in the Welsh Asembly (results not yet known - by me anyway) for funding for a DH track at Afan, another Red graded trail and some more family freindly stuff to go with a easier DH track and another red XC at Cwmcarn.

    Wierd,

All I heared with Penhydd was they are logging up there this year, and plan on fixing the drainage on some of the trail, but it would be the same roughly when done.
