Scott Sub 30 or Trek Valencia - Hybrids

Hi all,
I am looking to get a hybrid to complement my road bike; I invisgae using it more for 'everyday' leisure rides when skinny tyres and clipless pedals aren't appropriate, for use on the winter roads with full mudguards and for towpath/cycle path rides with the wifey. So road end of the hybrid spectrum but with enough about it to cope with broken surfaces.
The Scott Sub 30 and the Trek Valencia catch my eye (at £500 and £550) any thoughts anyone? Most obvious diference is the disc brakes on the Trek, I have not used discs before, so am perhaps wary of them from a maintainanve perspective.
Many thanks!

felt is worth a look too. i have a 2008 qx75 and its a lovely bike. I pimped it up with an easton finishing kit and upgraded the wheels to make it more of a sporty ride but the one below is pretty neat and a step up from mine. if you are a wiggle platinum customer this is £573 at the mo
