Just wondering what the conditions are like at the moment? Also as i have never been, whats will it be like for two Hardtails? All the videos i see of the Nab are people with ful suss bikes and body armour.

Also and last question now, which is the best train station to get off at? Is it Chorley?

Its a bit slippery at the moment quite a lot of it is surfaced with clay so it takes a while to dry out especially because it is all under trees.

You dont need a full susser and body armour to ride any of it though some knee and elbow pads are nice to have. Its short and tight so you really dont get up a lot of speed. You do see quite a lot of bad boys on there big rigs and they can barely get them round some of the tight berms, a hardtail or short travel full suss is fine.

Chorley is your nearest station about 4 miles if memory is right.

edit: just had a look at google and Adlington station is about the same distance

  • I've been riding Healey Nab all through winter and in the dark too and it can be very slippy and gloopy after rain but it does seem to drain quickly. Dig out an OS map and link the Nab up with a resivour tour and a climb up to Rivington Pike. There's a bit of road work but there are several good dry decents off Rivington. No need for armour or full sus - just big lungs and determination.
