Im off to Majorca at the end of this month. I need to take some grub for when I'm on the bike.
I usually use Nuun's in my bottle so I will take them but bars and gels are new to me. I usually use Mars bars  Can you recommend food for my pockets and a recovery drink?

Cheers

if you like chocolate, then high5 recovery drink - chocolate flavour

mix 5 scoops for 700ml water, put in fridge to chill before you go for a ride

tastes like proper chocolate, genuinely nice, unlike some others which are foul

the tub is a bit big for going away, i measure out enough powder into a smaller container to last for x days

i get fed up with sweet/sticky stuff, unless you really need to eat on the bike, take a mini-picnic, toasted sandwiches (wrap sandwiches in foil while still hot to keep them nice) and some fruit, then get off and enjoy the scenery while you scoff it

if you're going for long rides take some gels for later in the ride, high5 citrus ones are ok

taking two bottles, one water, one energy drink is an option, but if you know you can fill up on the route then start with the energy drink and you can refill with water ready for the real food

if you'll have access to a kitchen, garmin's rice cakes are nice and easy to eat on the move, you can make up a batch, wrap them, and keep them in the fridge/freezer, recipe and video here...

an american 'cup' is 210g of rice, i like them with extra bacon and some tabasco

once prepared, you must put them straight in the fridge, so they're cold when you go out

I use the Maxim gels. they have 3 times more gel than most and are resealable so you can sip at them. One gel will give you enough energy to last you an hour. They taste fine, and the orange flavour comes with caffeine in it.
