My new Cube Acid 2010

Arrived yesterday morning. Built it up and immediately took it out for a quick 20 miles on the road just to get used to it. Being a "roadie" and this being my first MTB I was surprised just how hard going on tarmac it was compared to my Pinarello. Stupid, should really have expected that......DOH!!!
Awesome though. Running out of gears on descents will take a bit of getting used to. Comfy though. Planning on using it occasionally to do my 36 mile commute as a bit of a change so probably looking to get a spare set of wheels and fit sort of "halfway house" type tyres to it and swap them over when I want to go off road.
Got loads of questions for you MTB folks so apologies in advance for the amount of threads I am about to post.
Also, road bike kits and bling is an expensive enough hobby as it is but I don't think the wife appreciates what online orders I'm about to put in for bits and bobs. LOL.
Anyway, couple of crappy iPhone pics from when I was out this afternoon :-

Looking good,
I have been looking at the Attention, so it you don't mind me asking, how much did that set you back?
and could you have got it in a different colour??? i like the black&green the attention comes in!!0 -
It was £679. I was tempted to go for a LTD Comp or Race but as its my first venture into mountain biking I thought I'd set a lower budget.
The Acid also comes in a black/silver colour but I liked the red and white better. 8)
Take a look at the Cube Analogues as well, they are around the price range of the Attention as far as I know. 2 guys at work just got analogues, one is the black/white and lime green colour and it looks fab.Ethernet (noun): Something used to catch the etherbunny.

looks smart that0

looking good fella. welcome to the cube family0

RSV cheers for the info, seriously looking at the Acid now.... originally had a 600 quid budget, hence the Attention, but i knew the XCM forks could need upgrading in the near future, with the Dart 3's being suggested as an option, so for an extra £80 can't go wrong.....
and just looked at Mr Lee's LTD Pro... green with envy, just wish I could expand my budget a bit more :P0 -
Cubes are so cool - great choice 8)Life's good

LOL!!!. Nice one!!!.
Carron Valley is about 5 minutes away from me so I'll start with that first.
If anyone is up Carron Valley over the next few weeks and spots a guy on a Cube Acid dressed mostly in roadie gear wobbling around the area then it is most probably me. 8)
Added some bling to it today. Cube RFR Bar-ends, Front and rear Crud Catchers, Cube chainstay protector and a Spesh Mini Wedgie :-

Cool 8)
I stuck in an order for the Cube Reaction RX today. It'll make a bit of a change from my Kona Cindercone that I've had for 10 years. As someone who has gone from from MTB to road bikes recently, it'll be really interesting to compare a modern road bike with a modern MTBROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

Interesting. I've gone the other way about, been a roadie for years now and finally decided to take the plunge and try MTB's. 8)Ethernet (noun): Something used to catch the etherbunny.

TEAM CUBE!!!!. LOL!!!.
Myself and 2 mates from work were up at Carron Valley today. Great fun. We all got Cubes at the same time ( there's actually 4 of us on shift that have Cubes - one guy couldn't make it ) on the C2W scheme.
From left - Cube LTD Pro, Cube Analog and my Cube Acid. At the top of "The Runway" freeride section before heading down. 8)

Great bike and tyre choice.
Those Smart Sam's are amazing they will last you for miles and miles.
I race on mine they are a very under rated tyre.0 -

I have been thinking of upgrading to a rear nobby nic, I usually visit Glentress once a week and the Smart sam's just don't seem to grip!!
I did Sligachan in Skye over the bank holiday weekend (very rocky!) and the Sam's were a nightmare!Dawes Tamark DX (RIP)

Hey RSV, its been a few months now since your original post. Hows the bike holding up? Ive been so tempted to buy this bike since your post, especially with the cool accessories slapped on. Hope everythings cool, cheers0

Hi, apologies for taking so long to reply.
So far the Acid has been excellent. Used it once to commute on ( never again on MTB knobbly tyres, I'm too used to my Pinarello on it's 700x23's for that job!! ) but in the time I have owned the Acid I have seriously got hooked with riding on trails. I've been visiting my local trails ( Carron Valley MTB Trails ) about twice a week at a minimum, sometimes more. Can't get enough of it. I think I've found a new hobby!!. 8)
The trails at Carron Valley are "Red" graded with an "Orange" graded free ride section which is a whole lotta fun!!. The Acid copes with all this fine. No issues yet, all I have had to do is wash it after use and lube it after I've been up there. It draws admiring comments from other folk up there too which is nice, not seen another Cube up there since I started going apart from the ones my mates all bought at the same time as I did. All in all, I would highly recommend a Cube Acid to anyone looking for a great handling, looking and well specced hardtail. Here are a few pics from earlier in the week at Carron Valley :-

At last I've made a decision on which bike to buy. It turns out it's the same as yours, a Cube Acid in red and white. I pick it up tomorrow at 12pm :PI'm not a racer, but I like to churn out 2-3hr rides,
I love Cannock and Llandegla cycle parks.

Upgraded RockShox Reba RL Forks, twin air.
Updrade RockShox dropper seat post.
Went tubeless DIY style using a 20" BMX tube. Lasting well.0 -
