Best UK bike shops + bike-fitting

In the process of choosing a new bike for serious sportive riding and some road racing.
I know basically what I want and I have a set of rough measurements.
Any thoughts on the best bike shops in the UK for good advice, a good deal, decent bike set up and a good bike-fit (if not professional bike-fitting in-store)?
Ideally, I'd like advice from an ex-elite/pro road racer, who will not try to fob me off because I'm a girl!
...around the midlands/London if poss...
Thanks

For bike fit this ex pro (Impressive palmares!) is fantastic. Price includes moulded foot beds too which are a revelation.
Well worth a trip.

I take it you are a girl and not just using the term 'I am a girl' implying you are soft. You will have different requirements to male riders due to the difference in your physiology. You don't say where you are based so I don't know how far you want to travel. My partner has used Cyclefit and Paul Hewitt. Both different in their approach but excellent with advice. Cyclefit has some info on their site about fitting women. The chap. recommended by Nap.D sounds ok but find out if he has any women customers who you can speak to. Just assuming you need a pink stem and it's done won't work.M.Rushton0
