Hi all, ive been reading up on the forums here( which have been invaluable) as im currently in the process of accessing the cyclescheme facility.
I have applied for my voucher based on a couple of bikes that i managed to get my choices down to- The Felt Q620 2010 model and the Specialized Hardrock pro 2010 model.
Unsure which one to go with, the Hardrock seems the safe bet, although something tells me to take a chance on the Felt, i know nothing about bikes and have narrowed this down reading up on these forums.
Initially i will be using the bike to commute to work, around 7 miles each way, couple steep hills involved and cycle trails. These bikes did initially seem more than i rquired spec wise but also like the option of having something a bit more capable if i get into the whole bike thing more than just commuting.
Any thought on the comparison of these two would be appreciated, as would any wild cards thrown in of any other suggested bikes, please keep in mind im restricted to price range of mentioned bikes as i have already ordered voucher.
Thanx :?

The Hardrock has the better spec, and is lighter - but see what fits best.0

Was searching for Q620 reviews and had to chime in on this post.
First, I assume you mean the Hardrock Sport, rather than Pro.
There is a ~$100 price differential between the bikes, and the components on the Q620 are all better.
Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc
FORK: SR Suntour SF10-XCT-V2D-MLO, 80mm
FD: Shimano Altus, 34.9mm clamp
RD: SRAM X-4, mid cage
BRAKES: Avid BB5 Mechanical Disc, 160mm
RIMS: Alex RHD
TIRES: Specialized Fast Trak LK Sport, 2.0
Felt Q620
FORK: SR Suntour XCM-HLO, 100mm
FD: Shimano Alivio FD-M410
RD: Shimano Deore Shadow RD-M592
BRAKES: Shimano M486 Hydraulic Disc
RIMS: WTB SX 24
TIRES: FELT THC XC Trail Highway City, 2.1
The tires are the only superior thing about the Hardrock.
"... but see what fits best." This is probably good advice though.0 -
In the UK, the RRP of the Q620 and the Hardrock Pro is the same.0

Oh! Maybe I'm thinking of a different bike then. I didn't know they had a different line in the UK. :oops:0
