I bought two continental city sport tyres for my mountain bike for road use. They have came with presta type valves instead of shraeder (probably my fault but ill blame it on the mail order company!). Can these valves be fitted as they are? There is obviously a bit of a gap where the presta valve doesnt completely fit the hole in the rim and im concerned this would cause problems.

Sometimes the nut you screw down on the valve stem has a narrower side to fit in a schraeder sized hole. Otherwise you can get a rubber adapter from the lbs (Mavic make them I think, £1 each probably).

Thanks for the replies folks, I understand I could probably get away with it. Im cycling to Inverness on friday though so I think I will just buy the correct tubes for peace of mind. Lesson learned!
