Hi
Im thinking about changing my brakes to hydrolics, and this would mean I need to change my shifters, is it possible to do away with the front shifter and just have it fixed on the middle ring at the front for now then add a new shifter in later?

You can split the chain and take it out from the front mech and wrap it around the middle ring perfectly fine, u should drop the mech down to the inner ring to keep itout of the way until u get a new shifter and then its exactly the reverse process to get the gears workin again.0

....or just turn the inner limit screw right in so it keeps the chain in middle ring. then just undo it when you need to set up again!0

Hmm bobs idea sounds nice and simple, I take it the screw is one of the two screws on top of the mechanism thing?0

yep, you will see by turning one it will force the shifter to move over to the middle ring.
you might want to take up the cable slack afterwards as it will hang..... if its still going to be on that is.0
